Q:How does AI-powered list creation work?

ListAIse uses Google's Gemini AI to understand natural language input. You can type or speak commands like "I need ingredients for spaghetti carbonara" or "weekly groceries for a family of 4" and AI will generate a complete shopping list with categorized items, quantities, and smart suggestions.

Q:Can I create lists from recipes?

Absolutely! Paste any recipe text (from websites, cookbooks, or messages) and ListAIse's AI automatically extracts ingredients, identifies quantities, and creates a shopping list. It even accounts for pantry staples you likely already have.

Q:How do I add items to my list?

Multiple ways: (1) Type manually, (2) Use voice input by tapping the microphone icon, (3) Paste a recipe for automatic parsing, (4) Scan a receipt to recreate a previous shopping trip, or (5) Select from your purchase history. See our Creating Lists guide for detailed instructions.

Q:What is Smart Sort and how does it work?

Smart Sort organizes your list by store aisle layout, so items appear in the order you'll encounter them while shopping. The AI learns the layout of 50+ major retailers (Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Costco, etc.) and adapts to your typical shopping path. This feature is available in Premium.

Q:Can I share lists with family members?

Yes! You can share individual lists with anyone via email, phone number, or username. For families or roommates, create a Shopping Group where everyone has access to all group lists and can collaborate in real-time. Free users can share with up to 10 people; Premium allows up to 50.

Q:How do I organize items into categories?

Items are automatically categorized as you add them (Produce, Dairy, Meat, Bakery, etc.). You can manually reassign items by long-pressing and selecting a new category. Create custom categories in Settings > Categories.

Q:What's the difference between archiving and deleting a list?

Archiving preserves your list for future reference or duplication, removing it from your active view without losing data. Deleting permanently removes the list after a 30-day grace period. Archived lists can be restored anytime; deleted lists cannot be recovered after 30 days.

Q:Can I duplicate a previous shopping trip?

Yes! Long-press any list and select "Duplicate" to create a copy with all items. This is perfect for weekly grocery runs or recurring shopping trips. You can also scan a receipt and select "Create List from Receipt" to instantly recreate that purchase.

Q:How do I set reminders for my shopping lists?

Open any list, tap the three-dot menu (⋮), select "Set Reminder," and choose a date/time. You'll receive a push notification at the scheduled time. You can also set location-based reminders to notify you when you're near a specific store (Premium feature).

Q:What is Grid View vs List View?

List View displays items in a traditional vertical list with checkboxes. Grid View shows items as cards in a 2-column layout with larger text and icons, making it easier to scan while shopping. Toggle between views using the icon in the top-right corner.

AI & Smart Features

Q:What AI models does ListAIse use?

ListAIse is powered by Google's Gemini AI for natural language processing, text understanding, and intelligent suggestions. For receipt scanning, we use Google Cloud Vision OCR technology with 95%+ accuracy.

Q:How accurate is the voice input?

Voice recognition accuracy is typically 90-95% for clear speech in supported languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese). Background noise may reduce accuracy. The AI learns your pronunciation and improves over time.

Q:Can AI understand multiple items in one command?

Yes! Say "Add 2 pounds of apples, a gallon of milk, and bread" and AI will create three separate items with quantities. You can also say "Set milk to 3 dollars and bread to 2 fifty" to add prices to multiple items at once.

Q:Does AI suggest items I might have forgotten?

Yes! Based on your shopping history and the current list context, AI suggests commonly purchased items you might need. For example, if you add spaghetti, it might suggest pasta sauce and parmesan cheese.

Q:How does recipe parsing handle complex recipes?

The AI is trained on millions of recipes and can extract ingredients from various formats: formal recipe cards, casual blog posts, handwritten notes (via photo), and even video transcripts. It identifies quantities, units, preparation methods, and ingredient variations.

Q:Can I train AI to recognize my preferences?

AI automatically learns your preferences over time by analyzing your purchase history, brand choices, and shopping patterns. For example, if you always buy organic milk, it will suggest "Organic Whole Milk" instead of just "Milk."

Q:What languages does AI support?

AI features (voice input, recipe parsing, text understanding) support English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified Chinese. The app interface is available in 15+ languages.

Q:Does AI work offline?

No, AI features require an internet connection to access Google's Gemini API. However, all other core features (manual list creation, checking items, organizing categories) work fully offline with automatic sync when reconnected.

Billing & Subscriptions

Q:How much does ListAIse Premium cost?

ListAIse Premium is $3.99/month or $39.99/year (save 17%). Premium includes receipt scanning (50/month), Smart Sort by store layout, priority support, advanced analytics, location-based reminders, and ad-free experience.

Q:Is there a free trial?

Yes! New users get a 7-day free trial of Premium. You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. After the trial, you'll be automatically subscribed unless you cancel in your device's subscription settings.

Q:What payment methods are accepted?

Subscriptions are purchased through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), which accept credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and carrier billing. We use RevenueCat for secure subscription management.

Q:Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes, cancel anytime without penalties. Go to Settings > Manage Subscription or manage subscriptions in your App Store/Google Play account settings. You'll retain Premium features until the end of your current billing period.

Q:What happens if I cancel Premium?

You'll revert to the free plan, which still includes unlimited lists, basic collaboration, and core features. Premium-only features (receipt scanning, Smart Sort, advanced analytics) will be disabled, but your existing data is preserved. If you resubscribe later, Premium features are immediately restored.

Q:Are there student or family discounts?

Q:Can I switch from monthly to annual billing?

Yes! Cancel your monthly subscription and immediately purchase an annual plan. You'll receive a prorated credit for the unused portion of your monthly subscription applied to the annual price.

Q:Do you offer refunds?

Refunds are handled through the App Store or Google Play according to their policies. Generally, refunds are available within 48 hours of purchase if you haven't used Premium features. Contact Apple or Google support to request a refund.

Q:Is Premium shared across devices?

Yes! Your Premium subscription is tied to your account, not a specific device. Log in on any device (iOS or Android) to access Premium features. Family plans allow up to 6 separate accounts, each with their own Premium access.

Technical & Troubleshooting

Q:Why aren't my lists syncing between devices?

Check: (1) You're logged into the same account on both devices, (2) Both devices have internet connection, (3) Background app refresh is enabled for ListAIse, (4) You're not in offline mode. Q:How do I recover a deleted list?

Deleted lists are kept for 30 days in Settings > Deleted Lists. Tap any list to restore it. After 30 days, lists are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. We recommend archiving important lists instead of deleting them.

Q:Voice input isn't working. What should I check?

Ensure: (1) Microphone permissions are enabled in Settings > Privacy > Microphone > ListAIse, (2) You have an active internet connection (AI voice processing is cloud-based), (3) Background noise is minimal, (4) Your device microphone is working (test with Voice Memos app).

Q:Receipt scanning isn't recognizing items correctly

For best results: (1) Photograph receipts in good lighting, (2) Keep the receipt flat without wrinkles, (3) Capture the entire receipt in frame, (4) Avoid glare or shadows. After scanning, review and edit items manually. Thermal paper receipts fade quickly—scan within 24 hours.

Q:How do I reset my password?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password," enter your email address, and check your inbox for a reset link. The link expires after 1 hour. If you don't receive an email, check your spam folder or contact support.

Q:Can I export my lists to another app?

Yes! Go to Settings > Export Data to download all lists as CSV, JSON, or PDF files. You can then import these into other apps or store them as backups. Premium users can schedule automatic weekly exports to email or cloud storage.

Q:Why is the app using so much storage?

ListAIse stores data locally for offline access using Hive database. Large storage usage is typically from: (1) Cached images (item photos, receipt scans), (2) Offline list data, (3) Purchase history. Clear cache in Settings > Storage > Clear Cache to free up space.

Q:How do I report a bug or request a feature?

In-app: Settings > Help & Support > Report Issue. Email: help.listaise@gmail.com. Include your device model, iOS/Android version, app version, and steps to reproduce the bug. We typically respond within 24 hours (faster for Premium users).

Q:What's your app version and update schedule?

Check Settings > About for your current version. We release updates every 2-3 weeks with bug fixes, performance improvements, and new features. Major updates with significant features are released quarterly. Enable automatic updates in your device settings.

Privacy & Security

Q:How is my data stored and protected?

Your data is stored in Google Firebase Firestore with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.3 encryption in transit. Locally, data is encrypted using the device's secure keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). We are SOC 2 Type II compliant.

Q:Who can see my shopping lists?

Only you can see your personal lists. Shared lists are visible only to people you explicitly invite. Shopping group lists are visible to all group members. ListAIse employees cannot access your list contents; our support team can only see metadata (list count, creation dates) when troubleshooting with your permission.

Q:Does ListAIse sell my data to third parties?

No, never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers. We use aggregated, anonymized analytics to improve the app, but individual user data is never shared. Read our Privacy Policy for complete details.

Q:What data does AI processing collect?

When you use AI features (voice input, recipe parsing), your text and audio are sent to Google's Gemini API for processing. Google does not store or use this data for training their models per our enterprise agreement. Receipt images are processed via Google Cloud Vision and deleted immediately after extraction—we do not retain images.

Q:Can I delete my account and all data?

Yes! Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently deletes all your lists, purchase history, account information, and preferences within 30 days. Deleted data cannot be recovered. Shared lists you created will be transferred to co-owners or deleted if you're the sole owner.

Q:How does GDPR/CCPA compliance affect me?

If you're in the EU or California, you have additional rights: (1) Request a copy of your data (Settings > Export Data), (2) Request deletion (Settings > Delete Account), (3) Opt out of analytics (Settings > Privacy). We respond to data requests within 30 days as required by law.

Q:Are there ads in the free version?

Yes, the free version displays occasional non-intrusive banner ads from Google AdMob. Ads are personalized based on your interests (opt out in Settings > Privacy > Personalized Ads). Premium subscription removes all ads. We never show ads on your shopping lists—only on non-essential screens like settings.

Q:How long do you keep my deleted data?

Deleted lists are kept for 30 days for recovery, then permanently deleted. Deleted account data is purged within 30 days. Anonymized analytics (no personal identifiers) are retained indefinitely to improve the app. You can request immediate deletion by contacting help.listaise@gmail.com.
